What is Inner Child Therapy?
Inner Child Therapy works with the younger part of you that formed its strategies long before you had words for what was happening. Those strategies — pleasing, withdrawing, over-achieving, disappearing — kept you safe then, and quietly run your adult relationships now.
This is not about blaming a childhood or a parent. It is about meeting the part that is still waiting to be met, and giving it what it did not get. As an inner child therapist and family constellation facilitator, I often find this work sits alongside constellation work, because the wound and the system that produced it are rarely separate.
Who it tends to help
Abandonment fears, people-pleasing, harsh self-criticism, feeling not enough despite achievement, or reacting far more strongly than a situation warrants.
Benefits of Inner Child Therapy
Restoring self-worth
Rebuilds worth from the inside, rather than from the next achievement.
Healthier relationships
Loosens the patterns of pleasing, avoiding or over-giving that strain adult relationships.
Emotional regulation
Reduces the size of reactions that feel far bigger than the moment that triggered them.
Genuine self-compassion
Replaces the internal critic with something that actually helps you function.
